Surgery
We have a fully equipped modern operating suite, in our hospital where we carry out major surgical procedures, as well as x-ray and dental facilities.
Elective surgery is booked in advance. Animals are usually admitted between 8.00 am and 9.00 am Monday to Friday or by arrangement.
No food or drink should be given on the morning of admission.
Discharge from hospital is usually between 4pm and 7pm.
Anaesthetics and Pain Relief
Prior to undergoing an anaesthetic, all animals will receive a complete physical examination. With the proper use of safe, efficient and modern anaesthetic equipment and drugs, the possibility of an untoward anaesthetic reaction is unlikely.
During anaesthesia, respiration and heart rate are monitored continuously. We have a policy of appropriate analgesia (pain relief) to maintain the comfort and safety of our patients.
Hospital
Our hospital is fully air conditioned and heated and has several separate wards for the safety and comfort of our patients.
The intensive care ward allows for continuous monitoring of ill patients and those recovering from anaesthesia.
An isolation ward prevents cross infection when animals are hospitalised with infectious diseases.
You are welcome to visit your pet in hospital to discuss treatment and progress.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations and health checks are scheduled according to the age and health of your pet. Puppies can complete their vaccination course at 10 -12 weeks of age to allow early socialisation. We offer the 3 yearly vaccination protocol for Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus. Cats have yearly vaccinations and check ups.

House calls
If you can't come to us, pick up, delivery or house calls can be made by prior arrangement.
Purchase of Prescription Medications
Many drugs have legal restrictions on their use. To ensure that your repeat medications are approved and prepared for your arrival, please phone in your request.
Sometimes it is necessary to re-examine an animal before a new prescription of medication can be issued.
Microchip implantation
A microchip implanted under the skin of your pet is invaluable if your pet should go missing and is now a legal requirement.
Hydrobath
Our hydrobath is available to our clients for a small fee to wash their dogs, please speak to one of our nurses to make a booking.
Pet Food and Prescription Diets
We have a large range of pet food and prescription diets and also pet care products and accessories.
If we haven't got a particular item in stock we are happy to order it for you.
Digital radiology
We provide a digital x-ray facility. This machine gives instant images and is a rapid method of taking x-rays which means your pet needs less sedation or anaesthesia. This system also gives high quality images that can be sent via email to specialists if necessary.
In-house pathology machine
Our in-house pathology machine enables us to offer on the spot blood tests. This is very helpful as we can find out on the day if the patient has any pre-existing disease before a general anaesthetic is given. Monitoring a patient's progress during treatment is also facilitated.

All accounts are payable at the time of consultation or when a hospitalised patient is collected from the clinic. Please enquire about our Pensioner discounts.
